Phelps-Hatheway House & Garden Wallpaper Preservation Project

In 1795, Oliver Phelps had five rooms in the stylish new addition to his house adorned with sumptuous hand-blocked Parisian wallpaper. Today, it is the largest intact collection of 18th-century wallpaper in the world. Connecticut Landmarks recently received a Save America’s Treasures grant from the National Park Service to begin the work of stabilizing and conserving the delicate wallpaper. Your support will help us match the grant funds to care for this spectacular space for future generations.
