Explore the contemporary lives of preservation architect Frederic Palmer and his partner Howard Metzger. Together, they created a safe space for friends and family to gather and experience life unrestrained by societal norms within the beautifully constructed landscape they designed and personally maintained.

The 1738 residence was built by John and Mehitable (Chapman Richardson) Warner. Later generations of the Warner family would become blacksmiths, and many of their pieces were collected by Frederic Palmer and can be seen throughout the house today.

A visit to the site includes a behind-the-scenes tour in which guests can learn about the collection of personal diaries and photos used to reconstruct the lives of Frederic and Howard, providing an opportunity for guests to discuss society's impact on the thoughts and actions of the house's former residents.
